Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between CGST, SGST, and IGST?
CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) are charged equally on intra-state transactions — each is half the total GST rate. IGST (Integrated GST) is charged on inter-state transactions at the full rate. For example, 18% GST intra-state = 9% CGST + 9% SGST. Inter-state = 18% IGST.
How do I calculate GST from a total amount?
If the price includes GST (inclusive), divide by (1 + GST rate). For 18% GST: base = total / 1.18. GST amount = total - base. Our calculator handles this automatically in inclusive mode.
