What is the LTCG tax rate after Budget 2024?
From July 23, 2024: Listed equity LTCG is 12.5% (up from 10%). Real estate and other assets LTCG is 12.5% without indexation (previously 20% with indexation). LTCG exemption for listed equity is ₹1,25,000/year (up from ₹1,00,000).
What is the STCG rate for stocks after Budget 2024?
STCG on listed equity (STT paid) is 20% from July 23, 2024 (increased from 15%). STCG on other assets is taxed at your income slab rate.
What is the holding period for LTCG on real estate?
Budget 2024 reduced the LTCG holding period for real estate and unlisted shares from 36 months to 24 months. Listed equity remains 12 months.
